in the Gulf but the police in Kerala have let them off. |
ABU DHABI: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Tuesday deported four more
Indians suspected to have had links with ISIS militants. They were detained at
Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram airports in Kerala on arrival.
After questioning by the Intelligence sleuths, and couselling, they were allowed
to go home. It is learnt that there are about a dozen more Indians in UAE custody
for indulging in alleged ISIS activities.
Last week the UAE had deported another Indian, Afsha Jabeen
(37), who was accused of recruiting youths for the ISIS. Jabeen was tracked in
Abu Dhabi. She was arrested in Hyderabad on arrival and registered a case.
Afsha Jabeen alias 'Nicky Joseph' hails from Hyderabad but was posing as a
British national to indulge in the recruitment activities through social media.
She was deported along with husband and children.
Afsha came under observation after the arrest of one Salman Mohiuddin, also
from Hyderabad, in January. Salman was preparing to board a flight to Dubai on
way to Syria via Turkey when he was arrested. He had amed 'Nicky Joseph.' The
UAE authorities were duly informed. A police statement had said, "Today, on
credible information, Afsha Jabeen is taken into custody at RGI airport, when
she arrived from Dubai. As she is a co-accused in Salman's case, she is arrested
and produced in the court. Further inquiry is going on."
Earlier this month also two Indians were deported on similar charges. Official
sources said more people will be deported for suspected links with the terror
outfit. Meawhile, the Indian police have not found any evidence against the two
men deported earlier.
